Tell us about yourself and your journey to where you are today...

After leaving school I did an Art & Design First Diploma at college, after which I worked at a florist wholesalers for a year to earn some money before I decided what to do next. Sadly, my Grandad died and I decided I would make my own flowers for his funeral, I Ioved making them so much I decided to go back to college to do a floristry course. That was 27 years ago now! Most of my career was spent working in a shop environment, after having my family I decided to set up my own business mainly doing wedding and event flowers from my home, which was perfect to fit around my family. Happily my business is still going strong now. Still mainly weddings and events, I also do seasonal workshops, Autumn & Christmas Wreath workshops are hugely popular every year, too.

What motivates you each day?

Love of my job even after all these years! I adore the brides reactions when providing beautiful flowers for weddings.

What makes your flower business stand out?

I pride myself and my business for the personal service I provide, the fact that it is still me that goes through the whole process with you, from the initial enquiry, meeting and design stage, final meeting, making the beautiful flowers and delivering and setting up, obviously with a little help when needed but im there through every step.

To what would you attribute your entrepreneurial success?

A difficult question to answer, but one thing for sure is that I have grown my business organically through my own marketing and advertising, being current with social media as much as I can, posting regularly. And of course, recommendations over the years. It's hard to do all of the above by myself, but I'm proud that I have achieved this all on my own, so far!

What is the hardest thing that comes with being a business owner?

Having to make decisions on my own, being a one man band, when I am having a moment of doubt that I cant do something is hard. And knowing if I have always made the right decisions.
