A Place of Vitality & Relaxation - 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Rose, Co-Founder, and Owner of 4 Corners Yoga +Wellness, located in Dorchester, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is a yoga and wellness studio offering not only yoga but also massage, reflexology, energy healing, and workshops. Our customers are typically located in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston as well as surrounding neighborhoods.

Tell us about yourself

I am a licensed massage therapist and co-founder of 4CYW, which was established in 2016. I became the sole owner during the COVID pandemic. My former business partner, Karuna O'Donnell, and I wanted to open our doors in an underserved area of Boston to help the community take charge of their health and well-being by offering accessible and inclusive classes, services, and workshops.

It motivates me to be able to introduce to some and reconnect with others services and classes to help them reconnect with their mind, body, and spirit. It is exciting to me to be able to provide resources and clear communication about wellness.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That we survived the shutdown! Really, I see our biggest accomplishment as the community we have built around our brand. So many people (even nationally!) have stepped up in numerous ways to support us, and for that, I am grateful.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me personally.... it is leading a team. I have 15 employees, and I am a practitioner of massage. It is quite a challenge to see my 12 clients each week and manage the scheduling aspects of the business when it does not always run seamlessly through our customer management system. In any case, I continue to keep an attitude of gratitude and know that through all things, God brings me through it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Keep good documentation/recordkeeping (even if it means hiring/bartering with someone in the beginning).
  2. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated so that you will build a community of ambassadors that will help uplift you.
  3. Most importantly, take at least one day (two if you can) off from doing any work on your business.
  4. Have an advisory board (informal but meet collectively at least once a year) to bounce ideas off of.
