A free senior living referral and placement service - Parents Changing Spaces

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in senior living but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cindy Morley, owner of Parents Changing Spaces, located in Rochester, MI.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Parents Changing Spaces is a free senior living referral and placement service. We research, locate, and secure all types of senior living for families and their loved ones. We typically work with the adult children, helping them to find the most appropriate senior living community for their loved one, based on their care needs, geographic preferences, and budget. Our goal is to find them the right home, the first time.

Tell us about yourself

Parents Changing Spaces was started after a personal experience of having to move a family member into senior living very quickly, and I had no idea what to do. I knew there had to be a better process for this. From that first day, and every day since then, my motivation has been to help families that find themselves in the same position I found myself in several years ago.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is starting a business from the ground up and building it into a thriving company that supports my family.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is knowing that everything falls back onto you. this can make it really difficult to shut things down for the night (especially if your office is in your home!) or to truly take time off.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. Success isn't linear, and it takes longer than you'd expect to feel confident.

2. Set big goals for yourself, but don't forget to celebrate the small wins along the way.

3. Learn from your mistakes! It’s easy to get frustrated and want to give up, but pushing past those feelings is how you grow both personally and professionally.
