Combination of Modalities - Acu For Athletes

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Zvi Goldberg, Founder of Acu For Athletes, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Acu For Athletes is a unique and friendly acupuncture office based out of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The practice is founded and run by me - Dr. Zvi Goldberg, DACM, L.AC, who is a doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, a New York State licensed acupuncturist, and a board-certified herbalist.

I truly believe that all humans are athletes. Walking, turning, and bending all require athletic abilities. Yes, some of us are "more athletic" or making a career out of being an athlete, but that doesn't take away from the rest of us for being an athlete.

That said, just like injuries in pro athletes decrease performance when we are injured, we are not at our best. Getting on the floor to play with children feels impossible. Running to catch the bus is a feat. Climbing the stairs to your apartment can be a dreaded task. These are not things you should be forced to live with. Acupuncture can help.

In addition to specializing in pain and injuries, I also treat stress & anxiety, headache, migraines, digestive issues, fatigue, sleep, women's health, allergies, and more. Services include acupuncture, trigger points, dry needling, motor points, cupping, bodywork, corrective exercise, and herbs.

Tell us about yourself

There isn't one specific thing I can point to that led here. Growing up, my mom was a nurse, which definitely got me interested in the healthcare field. I also love figuring out how things work, and the human body is no different. Although I never went for an acupuncture treatment growing up, I've heard about it, and it piqued my interest, and it was something I wanted to learn. All this, plus being able to help change people's lives, is what got me down this path.

The two things that motivate me at this moment are being able to support my family and 2 seeing my patients' results.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening up my own business and having it be able to support my family.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, the hardest part of being a small business owner is that you're always working on the business. Even when I get home after work, I'm still working.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start - the only way you'll have a business is by starting one.
  2. It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
  3. Patience.
