What's your business, and who are your customers?
Alder & Loam was created with simplicity and nature in mind. All candles are handcrafted in small batches with natural soy wax, cotton wicks, and clean, non-toxic fragrances infused with natural essential oils.
Tell us about yourself
Self-care has always been a top priority of mine! I'm almost always lighting a candle or taking a long walk In nature. In 2019 I decided to combine my love for candles and nature. To me, the perfect scent embodies hints of nature intermingled with masculine and feminine notes. My goal is to create clean natural candles you're happy to add to your home.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is being able to appreciate every season my business is in and making sure my new and returning customers receive quality candles and great customer service. I have been able to experience big launches, crazy holiday sales, and being a part of sweet gifts sent to friends and family all around the world!
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest thing about being a business owner is no matter how much you prepare; there will always be a new lesson to learn. For the first few years (plus), every aspect of your business will need your undivided attention no matter the time of day.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
My three tips for anyone looking to start, run and grow a business are to make sure you are passionate about your business, stay authentic and do as much research as you can.
