Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in beauty & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelly Lavelle, founder of Aloe Beauty, located in Scottsdale, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Aloe Beauty is a beautiful retreat for those looking to refresh their mind, body, and soul.  Not only will you leave looking fabulous, you will also have an overall sense of calm and rejuvenation.  Aloe Beauty is truly an experience!

My customers are anyone looking to improve their skin through natural remedies that have proven results, plus the added bonus of healing energy.  I can help anyone with their skin, but my specialty is anti-aging and acne care.

Tell us about yourself

I have been an aesthetician for over 17 years, but I did take a hiatus into corporate America for a little bit.  I decided one day that I was lucky enough to discover my passion in my early 20's and I needed to get back to doing something I love to do and finally start my own business that I was so eager to do.   I love helping women solve their skincare dilemmas, such as acne and anti-aging.  When my clients stick to the plan we put in place and they see results (rather quickly) it just makes my heart sing!  It really boosts their confidence and improves their life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

They say that once you work for yourself you will never work for someone again.  That statement is absolutely true.  I'm not going to lie, there are some really good days and some really bad days.  But knowing that you are accomplishing your goals through your own blood, sweat, and tears and not someone else's is so rewarding.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing is juggling your creative side with the mundane paperwork of running a business.  In the beginning, I did it all myself, but as my business grows I hire professionals to take certain items off of my plate.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just start doing "something" towards starting that business (a lot of baby steps add up to big things) do a lot of research on different ways to grow your specific clientele - there is a lot of legitimate companies that can help you with that, you just need to find them.  Be consistent - show up every day and work towards accomplishing your goals, if you are motivated everything will work out.
