Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Alycia Campbell, founder of Creative PlanHer, located in Aurora, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

A small business and Virtual Assistant, passionate about helping entrepreneurs scale by taking the administrative tasks off their plate. Running a small business often requires you to wear many hats. Our flat-rate packages and streamlined onboarding process allow you to get back to doing more of what you love while we handle the details.

Tell us about yourself

I am a former healthcare professional transformed into a mompreneur. Helping people has always been my passion. It started with being the big sister. Even though there were some bumps and bruises I wish the boys (my brothers) could have avoided, it inspired me to become a nurse. Well, that did not actually happen. However, working as a medical assistant was a close runner-up. The impact I made on the patients I served was never disappointed! Who knew the special requests to have me draw blood or give injections would ever be a thing?! It was, and it still makes my heart smile. My current "job" is very different than patient care but still yields a high impact on the clients I serve.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Simply replacing my corporate salary and some within the first six months of starting my business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Getting organized! I know that sounds silly, given my services are designed to help small business owners be more organized... I am speaking to all of the systems and processes you have to create from scratch to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Some examples include autoresponders for email, automation for customer management and invoicing, scheduling social media, and marketing.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Only offer services that bring you joy.
  2. Know your limits and set boundaries.
  3. Accept the fact that every client is not the right client.
