What's your business, and who are your customers?

Rocky River Dental Management provides support for dental offices ranging from human resources and consulting services and everything in between.

Tell us about yourself

I was a practicing dentist for many years until I realized there was a real need for dentists to get help with their offices. It is very difficult to be a clinician, CEO, CFO, head of marketing, and all the other hats that a dentist has to wear. I allow the clinician to focus on the patients and clinical practice of dentistry; I'll take care of the rest.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We currently have 5 offices under management and continuing to expand.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I have a great responsibility of making sure all my team members have a consistent source of income, and I'm constantly working on building a culture where everyone is excited to be part of this team.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You'll never be 100% ready to start your own business; you just have to jump in and do it.
  2. Picture the best-case and worst-case scenarios; neither of those will happen. You'll end up somewhere in the middle.
  3. When being pulled 10 different ways, focus on one thing, do it well, then move on to the next item.
