Tradition Meets Design - Apeloig Collection

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Daniela Apeloig, founder of Apeloig Collection, located in North Miami Beach, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Apeloig Collection is a brand of modern Judaica products. Our customers are Jewish people who like to celebrate their religion in style.

Tell us about yourself

The business first started as an idea for a thesis in a Marketing master's degree at New York University. When I got married, I was doing my wedding registry, and I could not find any Judaica products that matched my modern style, so I decided to create my own brand together with my sister Gabriela. I feel that it is my life mission to bring products that bring people closer to their Judaism. By wanting to celebrate and commemorate our rituals with products that bring them joy and make them proud.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Originality! Creating a brand of original products that no one else has and that is different from everything else that is out in the market. Seeing a product come to life out of an initial idea and after so many iterations is a big accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Life/Work Balance. When you have your own business, it is hard to separate your personal time from work time because if you don't take care of your business, no one else will, but that is why having a good partner is key. The workload gets divided, and you get to enjoy some personal time while someone else you equally care about is taking care.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. START. You'll never feel like you are ready to start because you will always find something that is not perfect or the timing is not right. But starting is the best way to start. Everything will take shape once you get going. Trust the universe!
  2. Surround yourself with the right people to work with. People that complement your weaknesses, people who bring you joy, and people that want the best for you and your business.
  3. Try, fail, change, repeat. The best way to know if something will work is by trying it. As soon as you realize it doesn't work, adjust and repeat until you can prove the concept or disregard it. Live & Learn.
