Drink Beer Til the End® - Apocalypse Brew Works

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leah Dienes, owner of Apocalypse Brew Works, located in Louisville, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Apocalypse Brew Works. We are a brewery and taproom (the Fallout Shelter) in Louisville, KY. Our customers are folks who visit our taproom and those who enjoy our beer on tap or cans throughout the state of Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Tell us about yourself

We opened nine years ago, three friends who brewed award-winning beer and decided to open a business. I love the creativity of brewing beer and seeing the enjoyment of our customers as they drink our products.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We love to give back to our community by offering our space for numerous fundraisers throughout the year. Our longest-running fundraiser is with the Kentucky Humane Society, where we are one of the top donors in the state!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest parts of being a business owner is that you're never off the clock.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Follow your passion.
  2. Love what you do.
  3. Lead by example.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Try and put creativity and passion into your products. Your customers will notice and carry that energy to share with others.
