What's your business, and who are your customers?

Archmark is a branding and marketing agency dedicated to helping architects who are running small firms do three things: 1. Get found online by ideal prospects, 2. Clearly communicate their firms' value 3. Engage their prospects to stay relevant and top of mind. We offer a monthly "done-for-you" marketing program that includes brand messaging, client journey mapping, website design and development, content marketing, and social media.

Tell us about yourself

I got started in university. I had big plans to become a computer scientist, but I found my courses uninspiring and dull. I decided to explore other fields of study and ended up taking Graphic Design 101. In this course, I met a professor who became a mentor to me and encouraged me to pursue a major in Graphic Design. That decision led me to an amazing career that has taken me around the world. I am grateful I had someone to give me that push. What motivates me is the fact that my work is very stimulating. I'm always trying to improve things for my team and my clients. It's an exciting time of change, with new A.I. tools appearing every day, and I am eager to see how our industry and world will change in the coming years.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

For me, it's always going to be the satisfaction of my clients. I am most proud of the fact that we can impact a lot of people by helping our clients. And my pride comes from hearing from clients that we have helped them.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As a business owner, you have to make a lot of decisions, and some of them will be very tough decisions. It can be stressful making decisions that you know are going to disappoint or impact others negatively. Unfortunately, that is business; you cannot please everyone.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set clear goals and execute those goals.
  2. Make time to work on the business, and do not get trapped working in the business.
  3. Make time for yourself, get away from the business to clear your head, and relax.
  4. Bonus tip: Don't let clients dictate your schedule; protect your calendar and your time.
