Build Your Social Presence - Avrah Virtual

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ana Canon, Founder of Avrah Virtual, located in Mount Prospect, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm in the business of social media marketing and content creation. Our core customers are small to medium-sized businesses that would like to utilize social media and create great content that helps resonate with their audience as a means of growing their customer base and clientele.

Tell us about yourself

I am a Mom of three beautiful children who transitioned from a 7-year career in corporate HR to working from home as a Virtual Assistant before honing in on one particular set of skills and expanding my freelance role into an agency model. My biggest motivation is my family! I also am super motivated by my clients--I love having the ability to help business owners- both near and far- grow their businesses utilizing the power of organic social media marketing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was being able to create a business that supports my lifestyle as a busy mom and grants me the flexibility I need to show up for my kids as well as for my clients. Working virtually (and on our own schedule) is truly one of the greatest gifts we have today.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think that for most Entrepreneurs, it can be difficult to avoid the comparison game. It's easy to look around at others in your industry and feel far behind, but it's important to remember not to compare your journey to anyone else and that we are each on our own individual timelines.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Give yourself the grace to make mistakes and learn from them! There's no such thing as perfection, and you grow more from the losses than you do from the wins--so embrace them!

I would also say to take things one day and one step at a time. We all want to be an overnight success, but the truth is, building a successful business takes time and sacrifice. Stop trying to rush the process, and instead, enjoy the journey!

Finally, I would say don't be afraid to outsource/hire people who are smarter than you to help you grow your business. It might be tempting to try and just do everything yourself, but delegation can help you get so much more done!
