Change Your Business, Change Your Life - Bankable Events

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anza Goodbar, Founder of Bankable Events LLC, located in Denver, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called Bankable Events. We help service-based small business owners leverage their expertise by hosting live events to scale their businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I was a professional meeting and special event planner for nearly 20 years before I started my first business in 2004. I owned a boutique mortgage brokerage firm until the industry crashed in 2008. That business disaster propelled me into the challenging world of online businesses. Over the years, my business has grown into a full-service business providing coaching, consulting, and virtual business services to help small business owners navigate the ups and downs of owning their own businesses. When I started my online business, I had aspirations of planning events, but the timing wasn't right. COVID had a huge impact on the way we conduct business, and after the lockdown, people were burnt out on virtual events, and they developed a hunger for personal face-to-face connections.

That realization inspired me to start a new brand to help business owners use live events to grow their businesses. Many small business owners already used events in their business pre-COVID but needed help with strategies to monetize and scale their business with this business-building tool. That's where we come in. We take a look at their overall business plan and help them create a strategy that not only monetizes their event but includes planning for the infrastructure to accommodate and service that growth in a sustainable manner. Seeing small business owners win motivates me to keep moving forward. When our team is able to help transform a small business into a medium business, we all make a bigger impact.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have helped clients generate more than $100M in revenue over the course of my career. Teaching strategies to help others continues to build a lasting legacy of impact is in our DNA.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Dealing with the unknown. In the beginning, you don't know what you don't know. Then when you start to feel like you have things figured out, you can feel like the rug was pulled out from beneath you. There will always be things that interrupt your business, an industry crashing, a pandemic, or an illness. It's about being able to see the bigger picture and having the ability to pivot. Taking action and figuring it out as you go is a trait small business owners must embrace if they truly want to succeed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear on who your ideal client is. Know their fears, frustrations, and pain points. Your potential clients are more than a checklist of demographics; personalize them.
  2. Be specific about the solutions you provide and how you help them transform from being stuck to being active and productive in the pursuit of their goals.
  3. Be consistent. Take action every day...even when you don't feel like showing up. Your consistent effort will begin to compound and produce the results you're striving for.
