Detox Skin at the Cellular Level - BEAUTOLOGY LAB

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in skincare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Karina Moises, Founder of BEAUTOLOGY LAB, located in Miami Beach, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're a clean-clinical skincare brand creating multi-tasking products that detox skin at the cellular level. The foundation of our unique formulas accelerates your body's natural autophagy (detoxification) process, which slows down with age, stress, hormonal changes, and an unhealthy lifestyle.

Our purpose is to bring products to life that support optimal skin wellness and improve people's lives – because everyone has the right to beautiful, healthy skin.

Tell us about yourself

I started BEAUTOLOGY LAB because I struggled with my own health challenges where my gut and immune system react to toxins present in our environment, food, and personal care products. My body chronically presented inflammatory disease, gastrointestinal infection, chronic bloating, skin rashes, and fatigue.

This journey led me to approach my health from the inside out. As I started to clean up my diet and change my personal care products and my environmental surroundings, I couldn't find clean skincare products that would help detoxify my body from the outside, so I set out to create them. My need turned into my purpose to bring health and wellness to skincare to change the way we approach our skin's health.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner to date is staying bootstrapped as we grow an omnichannel beauty brand in a very crowded and competitive space. We've tried and tested many things and aren't scared to pull away and pivot when something's not working. Not all brands and journeys are the same, so running your own race is important instead of feeling the need to stick to what others are doing.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I would say that the most challenging part is your mindset - staying positive and tenacious in your vision when the water is murky before the path becomes clear. It's extremely important to have practices and outlets that allow you to clear your mind and maintain grounded and connected to your purpose because it's challenging and beautiful all at the same time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Really understand what you want to set out to accomplish before you start, so you have a clear path and north star to guide you.
  2. It's more important to find a white space in the market and build around that than to build what you think will work and hope it sticks.
  3. Find good mentors that can give you different perspectives and guidance to support you along the way.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The character trait that creates an entrepreneur isn't that they know how to do everything. It's the fact that they have the courage to do something for themselves, the deep-rooted belief in their vision, and knowing yourself enough to understand what skillsets you don't have and need to hire great people to do to help bring that vision to life.
