Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Becky Stone, Principal of RaddxCap Investments, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

RaddxCap Investments is an investment firm with transitional and community housing at its core. We also realize that nobody can pour from an empty cup, so we're growth-minded. Commercial real estate, multi-family, and mixed-use is giving us the ability to scale faster than we ever thought possible. So our main focus in 2023 will be on building and nurturing relationships in the commercial space, as well as education and funding for individuals looking to break into real estate. It really is anybody's game!

Tell us about yourself

I worked for non-profit residential programs for youth for years, and frankly, I saw too much. Youth put out on their 18th birthday with no family, no skills, and nowhere to go but the streets. Children in the system often come from trauma, and it doesn't end when they enter the foster care system. The abuse and injustices often continue throughout their lives, leading to more homelessness, poverty, and children in the system. It's a snowball that continues to grow. You can't see what I've seen and not want to change it. But I had to get to higher ground in order to help, and that's what RaddxCap is doing. Elevating, so we can elevate others. Commercial real estate is our higher ground. Transitional housing and education are the life rafts of our communities.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm closing on a duplex right now that I got with ZERO out of pocket. It's my first sub to deal, literally zero out of my pocket, and we're taking over the sellers existing 3% mortgage. Exciting win! That will be the first of many in Milwaukee as I begin working on a housing program out there for single parents.

Close behind is a 17-million-dollar development deal in Texas that I'm working on closing this month. That single deal will bring in more profit than all my other e-commerce businesses combined. We actually just got word that the seller is including 3 more tracts for a mixed-use development, so it's expanding by the day. I've had a lot of great conversations with fantastic builders, and Texas is a booming market, so I have faith that we'll get that deal done.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The extreme highs and lows and the realization that the higher up you go, the more people you lose. I spend my free time learning new skills that will take my businesses to the next level. Whether that's marketing courses, real estate zooms, or business webinars, it's a constant learning process for me, and I'm all in. But not everyone understands it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start! We have a tendency to want to wait until we know enough, but you'll never know enough if you don't start walking through the process. You don't know what you don't know until you're there. Be okay with solving problems as they arise, and get used to calling strangers to ask questions. There will always be someone with the answer; you just have to be willing to find them. You can't open the door to light without walking down the dark hallway.
  2. And If you don't know where to start, then start with real estate. Everything that makes you money will eventually lead you back to passive investing anyway, so just start there and save yourself the heartache along the way. With Youtube, podcasts, and investor network groups on Facebook, you can literally start in real estate with zero dollars. If you can send texts and emails, you can get started in real estate. It's the simplest, quickest path to freedom. If you need help getting started, I'm your gal!
  3. Lastly, growth takes grit, so get comfortable being uncomfortable. Mediate, pray, and do self-hypnosis. Get centered, and then get out of your own way. Comfort is the enemy. So get used to the feeling of entering the unknown and being uncomfortable. It will pay off tenfold!
