What's your business, and who are your customers?
I help nonprofit leaders nurture raving fans for their mission using digital and content marketing best practices. I lead the team at ARTofEngagememt.org.
Tell us about yourself
After close to 30 years of working in various communications roles and environments like an ad agency, a Fortune 100 brand team, a start-up incubator, etc., I deeply understand the challenge for many amazing cause-driven organizations to get the word out, build a tribe and movement. I’ve been involved with various cause-driven organizations and churches over the years. That's why I have built a strategic content marketing advisory firm to help make marketplace best practices accessible to non-profits everywhere. And it all stems from seeing how non-profits need help gaining visibility and clarifying their message. When that happens, the non-profit leader can find the mission and focus on the transformation and impact their wake up to do every day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I’ve taken 20+ years of strategic communications client work and synthesized it into a codified framework called the A.R.T. of Engagement. When an organization follows the framework in my their marketing efforts, they establish their authority, demonstrate relevance, and build trust with their audiences. The results is a base of raving fans that help support and advocate for the organization’a work.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Trying to scale the ability to help more non-profits and churches in furthering their own mission.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Work on solving one problem for customers / clients. And do it.
