Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marco Senghor, Owner of Bissap Baobab, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is a Senegalese restaurant with very diverse customers from all around the world.

Tell us about yourself

As an immigrant and student living in the most cosmopolitan city, I decided to express and answer all the questions in regard to Senegal through food and music.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Opening seven restaurants and establishing a solid brand for over 23 years.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Most of the time, the cultural difference can create confusion from both sides of the restaurant and the market institution. It creates a kind of monopoly market that can be turned into an advantage most of the time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Like every business person who succeeds, it's all about your capacity to convince yourself and invest yourself as a personality in your business. It becomes somewhat your extension, and at that point, customers feel the authenticity.
