What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our goal is to create educational and fun activity bags for your kids to stay busy when you are at home or on the go. Our Bizy Bags help kids grow through play learning independently. Our goal is to occupy your little ones without a screen with our fun and sensory-friendly Bizy Bag.
As moms ourselves, we have run into times when our lives are hectic, and we hope that these bags can make your lives with kids on the go a little easier and more fun! Our customers are parents who have the goal of fostering a play learning environment for their children!
Tell us about yourself
We are busy moms, each raising 3 kiddos of our own ranging in age from 6 to 1 year. We were both born and raised in KC and are passionate about raising our children in such an amazing and supportive community. Kaitlin is a Speech Language Pathologist, and Amanda is a marketing major. We both love creating activities and watching our kids keep busy and learn through play on the go— in an airplane, at a restaurant, or even on the road. We are both big believers in engaging children and fostering their creativity and independence through play. Our frequent bulging ‘purse of activities’ turned into a business idea, and ‘Bizy Bags’ was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
We are so proud that we got started in a season of our life that is busy with young children and many demands. We wanted to make sure that this was a business that was not only inspired by our kids but that our kids could benefit from. We have been so fortunate that we have such a support system in our families, friends, and community that helped us get started and continue to help us grow.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the more challenging things about being a business owner is carving out the time it takes to get it to where we want it to be. Both of us are stay-at-home moms but also business owners. We don’t have a set 8-hour workday every day that is dedicated to work only. We are constantly wearing many hats and juggling both loads.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Rip the bandaid off and get started - there will always be an excuse as to why you can’t, but just go for it!
- Not everything turns out how you envision, but things will evolve, and your business will ebb and flow.
- Have a clear vision as to where you want your business to be so that all of the other answers to day-to-day questions and tasks will seem clear to you.
