What's your business, and who are your customers?
Blazin’ Candles LLC is a family business that originated in Detroit. We have formulated and created high-value scented candles to inspire and heal the community. Our candles are comprised of premium scented oils and 100% soy wax. Our core customers are true candle lovers who seek organic and healthy candles. Seekers of a candle that can heal, cleanse and refresh.
Tell us about yourself
My aunt taught me the trade of candle making. She started because she realized a void in the quality of candles on the market. After soaking up the wisdom of one of my favorite elders, I decided to create the Blazin’ Candle brand. Now I teach my son the skill, and although he’s only three, he loves helping dad clean jars, mix dyes, and of course, sell candles.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is the response my clients have after experiencing our candles. My “Blazin Family,” as I like to call them, tell me stories of how the feeling of peace, calmness, or joy fills their homes after lighting one of our candles. Understanding that different fragrances invoke different moods, we pride ourselves on spreading happiness and love through our products.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The biggest roadblock new business owners face is themselves. Your vision is valuable, and the universe only gave it to you. Harness your energy and dedicate yourself to the goal. We often wait for the “perfect time,” but in reality, the perfect time is now.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Blazin’ Candles LLC is creating a candle class to further teach and inspire. We plan to start with adult classes, but really soon, children will be able to learn just like I did when I was an eager child.
