Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jason McKenzie, President of Boise Web, located in Boise, ID, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We specialize in web design and development using WordPress and WooCommerce to help other businesses become more visible and credible to the public eye.

Tell us about yourself

Boise Web was started over a decade ago, in 2009, by an entrepreneurial college student at Brigham Young University. It all started out as what seemed like an ambitious dream. The odds were against him, but the owner and founder of Boise Web, Jason McKenzie, has worked hard to build the business up to where it is today and still regularly works with some of his very first clients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Boise Web has flourished into a successful business in Boise, Idaho, with an amazing team of dedicated professionals standing behind it. We got here with hard work, dedication, and sticking true to ourselves and our core values. Our biggest accomplishment so far has been ourselves. We've seen incredible growth with both the company and our team, and we're not slowing down any time soon!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The biggest challenge we've faced in recent years is tackling all of the changes that come with company growth. Transitioning from just a few people who all wear many hats to a full team of professionals who all have their own specialties has come with a lot of changes. The team has made great strides to implement new processes and find new ways to work together so that we can be as efficient as possible for our customers. We're immensely proud of the changes we've made, and we can't wait to see what the future holds as we continue to grow and improve.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be passionate. They say if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Having a passion for what you do is a necessity.
  2. Stay true to yourself. You know who you are and what you want your business to be. Write it down, follow your own tenants, and stay true to yourself.
  3. Surround yourself with the right people. Finding people that align with your vision, your passion, and your values is probably the most important thing you can do for your business. With the right team of people, you can move mountains.
