Customized Business Solution - Book More Business

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lois Creamer, Owner of Book More Business, located in Kirkwood, MO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I work with professional speakers and experts who want to book more business, make more money, and monetize their message. My business is very niche.

Tell us about yourself

I started my business after managing a successful speaker. I started Book More Business and 1998. At the time, I also did sales programs for corporate sales teams, but now all I do is work with speakers and experts. The only speaking I do is to groups of professional speakers around the world. Groups such as the National Speakers Association, Global Speaking Federation, Professional Speakers Associations, and more. I love what I do! I'm constantly learning new things about my industry and meeting interesting people in my industry.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being on national stages for speaking groups and associations would be some of my biggest wins. I've spoken to associations of speakers in the US, Australia, Africa, India, Scotland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. I was awarded an honorary Fellowship by PSA England/Ireland in 2020.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I'm a solopreneur. One of the biggest challenges of this is being a good steward of my time. Asking myself consistently, "what's the best use of my time" and outsource things that I don't want to do or learn.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what you're getting into. Is what you want to do marketable? Do your homework.
  2. What credentials or experience, or expertise do you have that will drive people's interest in your business?
  3. Are you willing to work harder than you ever have before? The amount of work it takes to start and maintain a business is huge. Don't get into it unless you love it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I've written two books. "Book More Business: Make Money Speaking" has done very well for me. It's sold on Amazon and in book stores.
