Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Estèle Merrot, Founder of Box for Boss, located in Channahon, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Box for Boss is a monthly subscription box, learning membership and community on a mission to help female entrepreneurs grow their businesses and take care of themselves. We are on a mission to inspire & empower women bosses to run healthy lives and wealthy businesses through product & brand discovery, self-education, and community.

Tell us about yourself

After graduating from a top business school, I quickly realized that I wasn’t destined for the corporate world. On my way to figuring out what I wanted to do professionally, I found myself feeling lost, overwhelmed, and really lonely. So I created what I wished existed: the delight of receiving parcels in the mail -with products and books helping me start & grow my business yet also self-care to pamper myself-, online education from top business leaders to apply proven strategies, and a community of badass ladies to cheer and support you every step of the way.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It has to be receiving gratitude from the boss ladies I serve with all my heart. Knowing that my creation and work brighten up her day, concretely helps her take action in her business, prevents her from exhaustion, and has a real impact on her life. When I see members share photos of their boxes or send me a DM to thank me, that’s when I truly feel and know that what I do is right and matters.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

As an entrepreneur, I’ve come to manage problems and navigate difficult times. But for me, the greatest difficulty lies in remaining faithful to your idea and vision, even when the work you put in doesn’t seem to produce the results you expect right away. Patience above frustration is key, especially when you have a visionary idea.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Educate and invest in yourself in the areas you need to succeed: marketing and sales. You can have the best product/service/brand in the world if nobody knows it exists, or if you can’t make money from it, you won’t last long. Remain a learner, always and only learn from people who’ve been there and done that.
  2. Accept ‘failures’ and ‘errors’ as lessons to do better. You can only learn because you’ve tried.
  3. Surround yourself with an empowering environment. People don’t have to agree or approve of your vision; they just have to respect it. Find communities, groups, masterminds, and power pods of like-minded people who get you and can help you out. If you don’t know, dare to ask; that way, you’ll learn what you learn and improve.KO Business Solutions is a consulting firm that works with clients in creating hiring strategies, executing those strategies, as well as enhancing customer engagement through our outsource Contact Center. Our customers are any businesses that have a demand for hiring and/or a need for initiating or increasing customer interactions. We have worked with start-ups to fortune 500 companies.
