What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company helps highly sensitive people, empaths, healers, people pleasers, and perfectionists step into their most joyful lives by saying YES to themselves through learning to protect their energy, reset their nervous systems, and heal their traumas. I offer a podcast (Waves of Joy), coaching, healing sessions, and courses.

Tell us about yourself

In 2007 I left an abusive marriage. I did my work and healed. And began to try to find ways to pay forward the kindness and support I received as I was healing. I experienced tremendous support... people furnished a house for me, and gave me a car. I knew then that I was in no condition to help but that I wanted to pay it forward and empower others. When someone feels empowered, they have stepped into their own power. I had people help me do that, and it made me want to help others.

I started my business in 2016 after I studied Reiki and felt the differences in my life. Since then, I've added many healing modalities and certifications to my toolkits, such as breathwork, ThetaHealing® Meditation Technique, and more. I identify as a highly sensitive person, an empath, a psychic, and a recovering people-pleaser and perfectionist.

My life is SO much more joyful since I learned to protect my energy and stop taking on the energy of other people, and I want to share that with others. My mission is to raise the vibration of the planet by helping one person heal at a time. Healed people heal people. Empowered people empower people. That's my goal... to help people find their power and healing.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm proud of the impact and transformation my coaching has had in the lives of my clients. It's incredibly rewarding to watch their lives transform, and their dreams come true. I've watched as they've become licensed architects, published books, started podcasts, healed childhood trauma, and become artists... it's so inspiring!! I LOOOVE feeling like I'm making a difference in the lives of my clients and seeing the impact they make on the world.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the biggest challenges for me has come from transitioning from being a full-time teacher in the classroom to being a full-time business owner. I went from seeing 100s of people a day to sometimes not seeing a person in person in a day. It can feel a little lonely. I've had to learn how to find community, get out of the house, and see people in my everyday life since most of the work I do is online.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Surround yourself with people who are either on a similar journey or where you want to go. We become like the people we spend time with.
  2. Hire a coach. You don't have to do it alone. There are a lot of coaches out there. Find one you resonate with and want to build a relationship with. Your coach should really care about you as a person and want to know you. The best coach for you will be someone who has walked a similar journey. Find someone you relate to and really like. Most importantly, they should embody what they are coaching you to do. Energy matters! Finding a coach with clean energy will make a world of difference for you.
  3. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Your journey is your own. While someone's idea of a successful week might include making $40,000 on a retreat, another person's idea of success might be going live on Instagram for the first time. Give yourself credit for what YOU are doing. All success is built on small steps, and these small steps matter and lead to big successes. But nothing happens without those small steps. They aren't as sexy as the big ones... but many times, they are juicier!
