Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Bronte May, Founder of Bronte May Naturopath, located in Queensland, Australia with online consultations to support clients across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, UK, Europe, Canada, and America.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a Naturopath with a focus on thyroid health. I go beyond the physical side of healing, supporting the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. I do this through a step-by-step process within my 1:1 personalised Thyroid programs, educating and empowering my clients about lifestyle medicine, providing mindset coaching through the challenges of the healing journey to help them understand their inner landscape, and guidance through the emotional layers of healing which enables a more profound level of healing and liberation to occur. I work with women who are ready, willing, and committed to creating change. They want to understand their body's language and how to best support its innate wisdom to heal.

Tell us about yourself

I love that the body has an innate ability to heal when given the right environment to do so. I know this from my own lived experience of healing myself from a thyroid autoimmune condition using a holistic approach, despite being told it wasn't possible! This is what led me to study Naturopathy, and it is now my passion and mission to empower other women to heal too - on all levels, not just the physical, and to regain the freedom to live the life they choose.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating my 12-week Thyroid Reset program and seeing women heal their whole being to experience life in a new, expanded way. I get to see my clients achieve not only the physical wins, like resolving decades-long constipation issues and bloating or getting their thyroid autoimmune into remission, but I also see them utilising the tools they have learnt to navigate life with more ease and joy - like managing mood disorders, updating beliefs, creating new habits and enjoying more fulfilling relationships with self and others.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the biggest challenges is balancing doing all the things - marketing, design, admin, client-facing, sales, etc. Some days could feel like the to-do list never ends, so be sure to plan your week, and don't forget to schedule "a me-time" to unplug and recharge so you can continue to do what you love from a place of overflow.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Invest in a Soul-aligned Coach – it pays to get support to guide you through the initial steps of setting up your business to reduce the overwhelm. Be sure to interview them thoroughly about how they coach. You want someone who not only has the clear and practical steps to get started but someone who also understands how to guide you through your blocks on both a mental and emotional level.
  2. Keep it Simple - You don't need to spend big on the most expensive website/business cards/ designer / all the platforms –there are plenty of platforms that have free versions to get you started (Canva/ Scheduling / Social media planners etc.) and loads of website platforms with beautiful templates that are also easy to navigate and set up yourself. (if not, you could seek a support person on Fiverr/ Upwork for almost any of your backend/admin needs)
  3. Rest and Play – to stay in your flow state and avoid burnout, be sure to schedule a time to recharge and play. Being in a joy state allows inspiration to flow.
