What's your business, and who are your customers?

We full a service catering and event planning company, and I work with various customers, such as oil & gas companies, colleges, funeral homes, and banks. We create and serve customized menus for parties or events. We are responsible for developing the menu and preparing, transporting, and serving the food. As well as staffing, entertainment, photography, and rentals.

Tell us about yourself

My family was in the food business. We owned an Italian bakery; I worked there at a very young age, making Italian desserts, fresh Italian sausage, Stromboli bread, and cannoli. Needless to say, I found my calling. My days were filled with a passion for cooking and serving our customers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2017, I was awarded the Women of Excellence Award. My peers gave me the award for my accomplishments and success in the hospitality industry. Having been chosen as one of six top Houston caterers to cater to Roger Goodell's private party of 20,000 guests for Super Bowl LI.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I believe it's my work-life balance. I love what I do and don't mind spending as much time on my business as necessary. Although I do realize personal time is necessary.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have enough capital to carry you through the slower months.
  2. Being flexible is day different, no matter how you plan it.
  3. Hiring a strong support staff.
