Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Cami Grasher, Owner of The Pilates Effect LLC and Healthy Concepts, located in Arlington, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is The Pilates Effect. My customers are clients; they are members of the community looking for a place to improve their physical and mental health. We don't operate a fitness facility or a gym. TPE is a pilates studio that improves the health of our clients so that they can optimally perform outside of the studio in their everyday life.

Tell us about yourself

As a pilates instructor, I saw a need for a unique boutique-like studio in Arlington, so I opened the doors in April 2017. What motivates me are the clients. Their results are the testaments to the work we do; we are in the education and healing business of the physical body. We help our clients understand their roadblocks and work with them to overcome them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the ability to continue to serve clients and help them reach their personal goals. Another accomplishment, we have added additional health services. Healthy Concepts is a Holistic Health practice; I am a Holistic Health Practitioner and Certified Traditional Naturopath. Here we can address further health issues such as nutrition, sleep, hydration, stress, and more.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is understanding that you are responsible for everything and on-call 24/7. Responsible for the small things like making sure the bathroom has toilet paper and the larger things like filling in for an instructor at a moment's notice. It's challenging at times but worth it!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just do it. Don't overthink it with a bunch of paperwork and "what ifs." Hire a good marketing professional. Become a problem solver, taking the obstacles out of the way for your clients so they can achieve optimal health goals.
