The Home-Based Coaching Revolution - Camie Wilke

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in career and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Camie Wilke, founder of Camie Wilke Coaching, located in Ashland, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help online coaches learn how to start + build their business up to a steady $5K-$10K months without ads, without launching, & without needing to have a large following. My customers are momma coaches who want to increase their income through their coaching business so they can pay off debt, have more time + financial freedom, & stay home with their kids!

Tell us about yourself

I became an online coach in 2019 after I graduated college & couldn't find my "dream job." So with zero business experience (other than what I had seen my parents do when they built their companies), I hit the ground running & started my coaching business. I actually started as a fitness coach! I loved the time freedom coaching offered & was so inspired by knowing there was no limit to the amount of income I could make! After eight months of starting my business, I was blessed to be able to quit my job & transition into full-time coaching.

Once the pandemic hit, I noticed there were a lot of new coaches in the online space. As I had conversations with many of them, I was surprised to learn that many had started their coaching business in hopes of earning income because their previous job was no longer providing the security they wanted. That's when I shifted from the fitness to business space to teach other coaches how to create full-time income like I had done the previous year.

I've watched my entire life change because of the opportunities & success my coaching business has had over the years & I want other online coaches to experience that same level of freedom + success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

It was a huge milestone for me when I realized I had closed over $100K since my business had started. It took me almost three years! It felt so affirming because I know crossing the $100K threshold is a common goal in the industry, but there isn't a large majority of coaches who accomplish it. I want to make it clear that there is nothing special about me. ANY coach can experience this level of success & it's my goal to share all I know with my students to help them cross that $100K line & beyond!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest truths about being a business owner is that most people (myself included) wildly underestimate the amount of effort + time it will take to see the success they desire in their business. Unfortunately, many people give up to early for that reason. Staying the course, even when it feels bumpy, can be challenging, but it's very rewarding.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire a mentor as early on as possible who has done what you want to do & who also shares your same values.
  2. Realize that it's likely going to take more effort + time than you *think it should & be prepared for it. That way, you won't be surprised when there are bumps in the road & can realize it's just part of the journey!
  3. Always try to put yourself in rooms with people who are smarter & more successful than you. It will challenge you, sharpen you, & inspire you in ways you can't even imagine.
