What's your business, and who are your customers?
I'm the co-founder of a full-service digital marketing agency that specializes in supporting service-based businesses. Our client base is diverse, but we've had a lot of success working with accounting, bookkeeping, and tax professionals, as well as entrepreneurs. We're passionate about helping these businesses grow and succeed through effective digital marketing strategies, and it's been a privilege to be a part of their journey. We're always looking for new opportunities to make a difference in the business world.
Tell us about yourself
My introduction to marketing happened right before I left a promising career in life insurance. Although I did well in that industry, it was apparent that social media marketing and having a strong online presence were extremely important for most businesses to have in order to be competitive in their industries. So I left the field of insurance and started a business in the network marketing niche.
After helping 153 other individuals start businesses, I could tell that a strong brand, including marketing tools, would be required to have credibility and to be taken seriously. I could also see that the spamming techniques taught by multi-level marketing companies were not a good fit for my brand.
So I got a mentor with lots of experience and a long track record of helping businesses from multiple industries, left the networking marketing industry completely, implemented solid strategies, and started building strategic relationships with credible entrepreneurs and businesses.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I was ranked as the Durham, NC, business coach of the year by GoalSetters in February 2022!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It was extremely tough in the beginning because I had to break all the bad habits I learned from the MLM company and dive deep into marketing and branding the right way. I'm thankful that my mentor was patient with me. As a matter of fact, I continue to be coached and mentored because I value avoiding mistakes and crossing hurdles with experienced business mentorship. It has helped with operations management, contracts, increasing revenue, bookkeeping, accounting, etc.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get a mentor to accelerate your progress without unnecessary mistakes.
- Create a real business plan and use proven strategies.
- Use social media to market your business the right way and use digital tools and systems to systemize your processes.
