From Intentions to Actions - Chris Riggs Coaching

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Chris Riggs, Founder of Chris Riggs Coaching, located in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I empower students, businesses, and communities with tools for sustainable living, healthy futures, and a passion for public engagement.

Tell us about yourself

I have worked in university education for many years. During that time, I developed professional relationships with students early in their college careers all the way through their entries into the workforce. I learned about the social, economic, and cultural influences each individual faced and committed myself to coaching them to succeed in ways that aligned with their lived experiences. I was inspired to move into the corporate field, where I worked with new small teams and established businesses in transition that were defining their organizational cultures. I am motivated by the moment that students and clients find the intrinsic motivation inside themselves to generate great change, that moment when their eyes come alive, and you know they've become inspired.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is creating awareness. One of my clients, a manager at a Fortune 500 company, told me that they were able to understand the stresses of their team members and adapt accordingly, reconfiguring communications and making the manager more adaptable to their team's needs. Helping to create that bond is the greatest professional gift that I could have hoped for.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is letting go of your clients. I want to provide my services to clients as long as they need me, but if I've ultimately succeeded, they are empowered and are empowered to take control of their destinies. So I'm thrilled to have them move on.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Put people first. The relationships you create with your employees and clients determine the success of your products and/or services.
  2. Sustainability is the key to a long-term future. Seek to better your community and your planet with each decision you make. It will position you as a leader in your field.
  3. Don't be afraid to fail. It might sound cliche, but knowing where you've fallen short is the first step to knowing how you can change the world.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Simon Sinek's Golden Circle Model is the most powerful business lesson I've ever learned. Start with your 'Why,' and everything else falls into place. You just have to trust in yourself and your decisions.
