Tell us all about your business...

Yoga & Fitness studio inspiring movement & meditation.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I opened Yoga Gen in 2014 out of a passion for all things movement & Yoga. Eight years and two kids later, I still love going to "work" every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Surving the pandemic!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

Working all the time and having a hard time taking days off.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

1. Make sure you love what you do, because your business might not pay the bills for a few years. Not everyone has the perseverance to work around the clock and not see a paycheck right away. Your business needs to fill your cup (not just financially!) to make it worthwhile.
2. Choose a partner wisely. They will end up being your wife/husband!
3. Become a jack of all trades, or hire help!

What are some of the things you put in place to maintain a healthy work/life balance and to keep it all together?

I rely on my business partner. She works on days I need off, and I communicate that I am taking a day off. Boundaries are important, otherwise you would just work all the time.

Who are some of your favorite entrepreneurs and best business resources/books?

I know a number of other Alpharetta business owners and rely on them for advice. We use Deputy and Square which has made communication with staff and customers easier.
