What's your business, and who are your customers?
Our business is an experiential and educational CBD shop. We learned from Sephora and allowed customers to sample products on the spot. We focus on educating the customer so that they can develop their own understanding and trust in CBD products.
Tell us about yourself
I am a San Francisco native and moved to NYC in 2009. There I started my activism and advocacy journey. What motivates me each day is remembering all the people I have helped either directly or helped them learn how to help their friends and family. Each person I can help understand Cannabis better means one less person who waits for their loved one to be on the death bed for them to reconsider their position on this Cannabis plant.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
As a business owner, my biggest accomplishment is being awarded the #1 CBD shop in New York City in our first year of business.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is managing the people in a way that gets them excited and engaged with the systems created to maintain efficiency and consistency.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be Organized with your tasks, your systems, and your staff.
- Be persistent. Starting your own business is tough and may make you question if this is what you really want.
- Want it badly. That internal drive and passion will help you persist through the tough times.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
Information on Cannabis is readily available, yet we choose to wait until someone close is dying to reconsider our stance. It needs to stop, and that starts with having an open conversation about the facts.
