What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is called Contractor Succession. We help business owners transition or exit their business through succession planning, sale to an outside acquirer, private equity, or an ESOP.

Tell us about yourself

I have owned several businesses. Contractor Succession provides needed consulting and advice to business owners who are often not prepared for an exit, financially or emotionally.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping clients achieve personal and professional goals.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Staying current and relevant. Keeping associates, clients, and strategic partners engaged and inspired to achieve our vision.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Learn about the industry you want to enter by talking to people who have succeeded in the same industry.
  2. Read intensely about your industry and gain business acumen.
  3. Understand numbers - what does it take to get to breakeven in your business and then to make a significant profit so you can enjoy what you earned - know your numbers!
