Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Courtney Capece, Owner of Committed Change Health and Wellness, located in Millersville, MD, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Committed Change Health and Wellness is a holistic health coaching company that works with clients to realize growth and change in their daily lives through nutritional, physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation.

Tell us about yourself

My business was born out of a need to create change in my own life. A desire to improve my personal health and transition to a career driven by passion, dedication, and a commitment to helping others led me to seek training as a health coach. Health coaches are their first clients, and I was able to map out a plan to address my health, motivation, and internal fears to begin walking in a more positive direction. With newfound health and crystal-clear focus, I established Committed Change Health and Wellness. Every day I aspire to help others discover the wellness routines that work for them and to empower them to achieve their unique health and wellness goals. What drives me is the hope that we can all live joyful, fulfilled, impactful, healthy lives where helping others and growing every day is the norm. This mission keeps me laser-focused every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

That I just did it. It amazes me every day that I'm doing this thing! There was a time where the old me would have just stayed in my lane, but nothing was learned or gained by doing the same old thing. I'm a Health Coach who encourages people to take steps to get out of a not-so-great situation or to full-on chase their dreams. I love that I'm a case study for my clients. Never work with a coach that has not experienced personal transformation for themselves. It adds so much credibility and value to what they can do for you. Hire a coach that has been where you are.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Many things are hard and harder than I thought they would be when I started my business. I think one of the hardest things that comes with starting a business is balancing your time. You have to get it up and running, but you can't drown while doing it. Patience, balance, planning, and organization are key to everything else you do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

I still don't know if I'm doing anything right, but I just keep moving forward. Three tips I could from what I know so far would be the following:

  1. You'll never know if you never try, so just try. You'll regret it if you don't.
  2. Patience is very important. If you want to get rich or famous quickly, running a business may not be for you.
  3. Don't look around and compare. It will distract you, and no one else can be you or offer what you can the way YOU do it. Just do you.
