What's your business, and who are your customers?
Essentially we provide the most interesting and engaging experience for people who want to discover and develop their creativity; these are often students (primary & secondary) and their teachers, but also SMEs and anyone who wants to learn how to write a song, produce a podcast, make a movie or create a stop motion animation.
Tell us about yourself
I'm a creative person, and my first love was songwriting, recording, and performing. In 2001 I started developing and delivering education programmes and workshops around songwriting and later expanded to include other skills. My passion is encouraging others to explore and develop their own creativity.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The fact that Createschool has operated for over 20 years and, in that time, has grown to provide employment and other opportunities for fellow creatives to develop their careers.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Making tough decisions. These may not always be popular, but ultimately they need to be made, and that responsibility falls on the business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find your passion and follow it. That will help motivate you every day.
- Listen to customers, mentors, and colleagues.
- Don't just acknowledge your failures - celebrate your successes too.
