What's your business, and who are your customers?

We're a creative marketing agency based in Toronto with a strong emphasis on branding and web design strategy. We serve architectural and interior design firms.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a designer by training, but I have a true love for strategy and solving the problem at hand for our customers. I started working in print and then in corporate in a design team. From there, I worked for ten years as a communications director for nonprofits, and that all helped me develop a wide range of skills and leadership needed to start my own company.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

For me, it's developing a harmonious team. We can only do what we do because of the caliber of the team that makes Creative Partner.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

My responsibility to my team; to lead them, and to learn from them. I want to win, and I know I can't do it on my own. I've failed a few times at this and always have to re-centre on our vision and values.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Know your stats. You need to know the following:

  1. What problem you're solving.
  2. How profitable your service is.
  3. Be driven by value (that's what makes you attractable).
