Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Khara Croswaite Brindle, Owner of Croswaite Counseling, PLLC, located in Frederick, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a group mental health practice, we offer individual therapy to adults suffering from anxiety, perfectionism, workaholism, and burnout. I also offer Financial Therapy, professional consultation, clinical supervision, and professional development courses online for mental health professionals and entrepreneurs.

Tell us about yourself

I can admit that I'm a serial entrepreneur and wouldn't have it any other way! After growing a group practice, I wanted to pivot to working more with mental health and helping professionals. I started writing books and creating online course materials for them. I enjoy serving entrepreneurs and fellow therapists to grow their businesses while preventing burnout!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm really proud to be a Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Alum. Their program helped me redefine my business goals to be more in alignment with my values. I'm also really proud of the network of colleagues I've built through all my entrepreneurial endeavors. Without them, the highs and lows of being a business owner would be more isolating and discouraging at times.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

You have to be willing to take risks. Not huge risks, but risks like putting something out there that isn't perfect or the final product. Don't let perfectionism stand in the way of creating something meaningful for your community. Don't be afraid to pivot!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Even as an introvert, don't stop networking and building a community of like-minded professionals.
  2. Put something out there that isn't perfect.
  3. Face your fears of public speaking to tell an authentic story; it will open so many doors for you!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I'm excited to help folks better understand the amazing work that is Financial Therapy! It's where I'd like to grow my business to help more entrepreneurs, therapists, and business owners have a healthy relationship with their money to remove money blocks and reach their full potential, including a healthy work-life balance!
