Tell us about yourself

My journey in healthcare formally began about 24 years ago. I started my career as a caretaker/ home health aide in 1999. In 2005 I became a Certified Nursing Assistant for a local Long Term Care facility. In 2008 I began nursing school and officially became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2009. I started my Nursing career in Correctional Nursing, which lasted about six years, and ended as a Health Service Administrator of a 500-bed facility as well as a 25-bed Juvenile Center. I followed my Correctional Nursing career with a small stent in Dermatology as well as Long Term Care again, this time as a Nurse/Care Plan Coordinator, which then led me to my love of Hospice where I have been serving as a Hospice Nurse for over four years with the last two years as an on-call/critical care nurse. I was able to find a love of holistic medicine during this time with those who have loved ones or themselves in palliative care and Hospice.

I am a student at the Kingdom College of Natural Health for my Doctorate in Herbal Medicine; this allows me additional perspectives into the world of holistic/herbal medicine, preparation & options. My goal when working with families and/or individuals is to reach a place of peace and healing of ailments naturally, as well as assist with new life and with the difficult road ahead of the end of life. I feel that we all have something that fits into one of these categories.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building a clientele of over 70 in my first six months of being in practice.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Knowing that you can't be all things to all people all the time.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish it.
  2. Know that without God, you will struggle.
  3. Always know that you got into this to help others, not become rich.
