What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a fine art photographer and artist working to create heirlooms for families. My customers reach far and wide and are looking for portraits to grace their homes and warm their hearts.
Tell us about yourself
It seems as though I have done this all of my life. I opened my true studio 23 years ago because of my love of art and the innocence of childhood. Colors, ideas for homes, and interaction with art and children bring me joy each and every day!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I am very proud of the fact that my business has made such an impact on my own daughter that she has joined my business and plans to keep it going long after I retire. My business has always been about family, and this transition is natural for her as she has grown up knowing so many of the people I have worked with over the years. They are not just clients, but they are forever friends and family to us.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The most difficult part of my actual business is the behind-the-scenes work. We make it look effortless, but we aim to make dreams come true, and it is not the push of a button but learning about the people we work with and their dreams, along with our desire to create something unique for each client and their home.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Only give 100%.
- Learn the business and financial side 1st, as the passion for what you love will be the easy part.
- Nothing is easy.
