What's your business, and who are your customers?

Dally is an original brand built entirely around the idea of slowing down. My wife and I founded our brand at the end of 2020 on a mission that celebrates the culture around a slower lifestyle and inspires people to explore the benefits of slowing down more often. We launched a premium line of small-batch soaps so Dally would play a prominent role in your daily routine. We also created a collection of leisure accessories channeling the same ethos so we could help you reach slower speeds in multiple ways throughout your day. Dally is made and designed in NY, delivering high design and low speed into your daily life. In fact, Dally's name is inspired by the term "dilly-dallying" — linking personal care to personal moments from warm, unforgettable places in nature.

Tell us about yourself

I have worked for over a decade in NY, working at creative agencies with a focus on advertising and design. My wife has worked in tech in operations and marketing for over a decade. So we have always dreamed about using our complementary skillsets to create our brand. It has been a thrill to use all of our collective experience to make our own products and launch our brand. It requires so much focus and hard work, but it is incredibly rewarding when we can put it out into the world and hear a positive response.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our greatest accomplishment has been creating an original brand in a crowded space. Always putting an emphasis on our attention to detail and quality and our push to differentiate ourselves helped us get there. When we started picking up press articles within the first year from places like Vogue, GQ, Architectural Digest, Dieline, and more — we were thrilled with the excitement and acknowledgment of our small independent brand.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

There is no vacation or rest from the business of owning your own brand. There are also so many things to juggle and pay attention to in order to keep things on track when the two founders are leading the charge on the full operation.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be sure to research, plan, and take as much time as necessary to get your brand and products right before launching. This is a critical phase that will help you in the long run.
