What's your business, and who are your customers?
December Oak is a website studio that creates custom websites and brands for creatives. We work with makers, the wedding industry, and other creative industries.
Tell us about yourself
I had a near-death experience when I was 25 and when I survived, I knew I had to change my life. I hadn't taken opportunities that came my way, and I wanted to finally start my business. The fulfillment my business provides me is what keeps me going each day, even when small business ownership gets tough.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Helping my clients reach their goals. We've seen clients double their revenue, be booked solid, and spend more time with their families. I want to pass on the fulfillment I feel to them.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The ups and downs of business. One month you have more inquiries than you could possibly want, then two months go by and nothing. It's a lot of ebbs and flows, so keeping the faith and moving forward is important.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Be consistent. Keep showing up in your marketing, and don't let your audience down.
- Make sure you have systems in place so you're completing your work with the same steps every time, which saves a ton of time.
- Balance comes from taking time for yourself when you need it and focusing on your productivity when you're working.
