What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are providers of premium quality desk accessories to gamers, professionals, and everyone in between. Our purpose is to elevate the typical desk setup by adding premium goods that offer a unique characterization to the user.

Tell us about yourself

Deskr was formed in the midst of COVID-19 alongside my childhood friend, and we both have a strong passion for gaming. Our early childhood years were spent playing on our Gameboys til we moved to the PSP. Gaming has contributed to some of the best years of our lives, and it has helped form Deskr into what it is today. Not only has gaming contributed to our brand, the community and involvement with creators and consumers who indulge in hobbyist mindsets to elevate their environment have kept us moving forward and helped us create more.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment has been our social growth and retention of our niche. To be able to captivate an audience on our TikTok and Instagram channels has been tremendously beneficial for our growth. With more than 24+ million views on TikTok with our hashtag (#deskr), we've been able to cultivate our content and community with feedback received from these platforms.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Every business hits obstacles, and the trajectory we were on in our second year of business caused a lot of moving pieces to be turned over and missed out on. Every day we are learning something new about our brand, and the hardships that we have faced are moving with the trend. It is not easy to do, especially being at a lower scale than other brands out there, but we have taken commitment now to move into products that can be scaled quicker and received faster.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. The number one rule to starting a business/brand is "Keep Moving Forward." Wise words said by Walt Disney himself, but the drive to push past obstacles and overcome challenges will only enhance your problem-solving in the future.
  2. Always make content about your brand, whether it's a trend, or a simple ad-style video, always create content. Our organic growth accelerated in our first year of being on TikTok and Instagram, and now we are sitting at 77k followers on Tiktok and 24k on Instagram. Having an organic following for your brand is supremely beneficial.
  3. Always have a mindset of a customer first. Respect and listen to your customers and value their understanding. Without customers, there would be no business.
