What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a certified life, spiritual and business coach, counselor, and energy master teacher, I empower and inspire men, women, families, leaders, and businesses to achieve greater health and wellness, master success, realize their dreams, thrive and triumph in life, work, relationships, and business. I'm also the executive producer and host of the Power Your Life Shows.

Tell us about yourself

I initially began to seek, study and become certified in alternative medicine and various modalities to heal myself of physical and emotional challenges. They were effective in reducing pain, getting me ambulatory, and ceasing negative mind chatter, motivation, etc. I decided that if I could help myself heal, it behooved me to help others. I was previously the Executive Director of a comprehensive educational, clinical, residential, and community program for children and youth with special needs. Later I became the Director of the Research, Training, and Evaluation Dept. for all the programs, including the adult services division. I implemented staff training programs, parent training, and more. When I went into business for myself with coaching, counseling, and training, I also trained leaders and staff for several businesses and corporations. What motivates me and is my passion is helping others succeed, feel accomplished and value themselves, and have effective and positive interactions and fulfilling relationships, careers, and businesses.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Growing within myself, expanding my business, garnering rewards and recognition for achievement and effort while feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment with my efforts and with what I've built and continue to build.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

It's important to align your core values with your business and career. This requires self-awareness and the ability to view yourself and your work objectively to determine the best course of action, direction, and future planning to propel it forward successfully. Often the changes in technology, trends, etc., in your field happen quickly. You have to step up to meet them and stay ahead.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. You need to have patience starting out. It can take some time, and you have to stick with it.
  2. Keep aware of the trends, shifts, etc., in your specific area and stay on top of them.
  3. Recognize that there may be delays, roadblocks, and challenges, yet don't let them deter you from your goals and moving forward. Be resilient in your efforts to succeed.
