What's your business, and who are your customers?

Effective Media Solutions is a full-service advertising and marketing agency dedicated to the contracting industry. Our customers are HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical contractors. We handle all forms of marketing for them, from all digital solutions to traditional forms of advertising. Our services include: Website Design, Pay Per Click Services, Search Engine Optimization, Google Guaranteed, Email Marketing, Radio, TV, OTT production, buying and negotiation, Billboards, and direct mail. If it involves marketing for the contracting industry, we do it!

Tell us about yourself

I started in the HVAC industry in 1996 with Ferguson Enterprises (HVAC distributor) as a trainee. I worked for several distributors selling HVAC products and supplies for 17 years. Then I made the jump to running a local heating and air company. This is where I really found my passion for marketing in this industry. I became heavily involved in digital marketing for the HVAC company, which springboarded me into marketing for contractors. I really saw that contractors needed help in marketing their businesses in today's digital world. Helping contractors succeed while building personal relationships is what drives me each day. It was so rewarding to build close relationships with business owners and to watch their companies grow and succeed!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Building something that we can be proud of, that we are making a difference in people's lives by helping their businesses grow!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Creating a company culture that attracts and keeps people!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take risks. Failing helps you learn so much as you grow.
  2. It's all about your people. You work for them.
  3. Take your time. It will happen when it is supposed to happen. Slow and steady growth is the way to go!
