What's your business, and who are your customers?

Elan Healthcare was born from the desire to elevate reproductive health awareness and introduce innovative natural solutions to common conditions. We are dedicated to the research and development of novel natural health products. Elan Healthcare’s mandate is to produce natural health supplements manufactured to the highest standards. Our mission is to create awareness and natural solutions for common reproductive health conditions. Our vision is to grow our reach across the globe and become a recognized name in fertility supplements. Our customers are people who are suffering from PCOS or subfertility or planning to grow their families. We also have supplements for persons in their later years to deal with menopause and andropause.

Tell us about yourself

I began a career in healthcare as a Medical Doctor in 1998 and moved to the pharmaceutical industry in 2004. After years of working in the pharmaceutical industry and exploring the intricacies of product development, I had the desire to build my own line of science-based products. Immigrating to Canada in 2014 gave me that opportunity. Elan Healthcare was the realization of my desire to leverage reproductive health awareness and to introduce low-risk and cost-effective solutions to common sub-fertility issues.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We have improved the quality of life of thousands of women with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and helped many more couples grow their families and realize their dream of becoming parents. That is my strongest motivator to keep on this path.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner is the level of responsibility and decision-making that comes with the role. As a business owner, you are responsible for everything from setting the strategic direction of the company to managing finances, marketing and sales, operations, hiring and firing employees, and dealing with customer issues. Balancing all this and family life can often be stressful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Develop a clear business plan, Focus on your customers, and Stay agile and adaptable.
