Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Adrian Salvadore, Partner and COO of EZShop, located in Montreal, QC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

EZShop is a Montreal-based digital marketing agency focused on amplifying online sales for retailers worldwide. Our typical clients have two or more retail locations and are generating a few thousand dollars a month with their eCommerce site.

Tell us about yourself

After spending the first five years of my career working for two large marketing agencies, I decided it was time to do things my way. I had been freelancing as of my second or third year as an SEM specialist and realized I was making good money for a side hustle. Once I had a small base of consistent clients, I decided it was time to make the leap as a full-time Google Ads consultant.

My greatest motivation in life is to be a key figure in the digital marketing world, specifically with eCommerce & Google Ads. I will have succeeded the day I get to travel around the world to give speeches and teach. So, until then, I will continue grinding any way I possibly can.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Prior to working at EZShop, I had a small consultancy that provided high-end Google Ads services. A few months into my freelance career, I started making more money than I had ever made before in a single month. At that point in my career, I realized I had the power to determine my own financial success. I no longer needed to rely on anyone else for my own wealth.

Today, at EZShop, my greatest accomplishment is providing a job and future to over 20 individuals. It's a blessing to know that EZShop supports our local economy and gives our employees an environment to grow and prosper.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a business owner is incredibly exciting and, at times, extremely stressful. While it's a blessing to be able to offer over 20 full-time positions, we sometimes need to make difficult decisions that impact all of these individuals and the future of the company. As a business owner, you need to be able to make difficult decisions that not everyone will understand immediately. You need to be ready to sacrifice short-term happiness for long-term success.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you know what you’re talking about. Essentially, have a key skill/area of expertise.
  2. Delegating is key to growth, but before getting there, you need to be ready to wear multiple hats to get your business off the ground.
  3. Don’t be shy to reach out, work with, and leverage anyone you know in your network to help you.
