Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in skincare but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Dawn Morningstar, creator of Facial Serum #18, located in St. Paul, MN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Facial Serum18 is made by me, Dawn Morningstar, a former Esthetician, turned women's self-empowerment coach. I infuse each batch I make with love using a sacred ritual of blending the finest ingredients from around the world. My clients are those who care about what they put into and on their bodies--wanting earth-pure ingredients that really work! They want their skin to look and feel good. I include a daily affirmation so that not only the fragrance and feel of Facial Serum #18 work for them but also the way they approach their day.

Tell us about yourself

I created this amazing serum because I wanted something that was not only non-toxic but actually good for the body, mind, and spirit. Having had my esthetician's license, I know what is good for the skin. I made hundreds of batches before perfecting this formula. It is the only moisturizer I EVER use on my face, neck, and hands. Everyone loves the mild fragrance and how it works for every skin type. Facial Serum #18 by Dawn Morningstar, lovingly called simply 18 by enthusiasts, is a highly resonating special blend of mostly organic and 100% high-quality beneficial and essential oils.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is the fact that once people start using Facial Serum 18, they continue to. I have clients from all over the U.S. who have Facial Serum 18 delivered to them every month--they say they can't live without it!

Here's what long-time user of 18 and California producer Gayle Gladstone has to say:

"The magic of #18 is that it's rich but not heavy. As a producer and publisher in this busy world, I make sure I never run out by having a monthly delivery subscription. After using '18' for the past few years, I need a lot less face care and makeup. Having mature skin, I get a softer, more youthful look by treating my décolletage and neck area. This brings me confidence and joy."

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think one of the hardest things about being a business owner is all of the many facets involved with running a business--that go beyond the love of why we start businesses in the first place! But all of these tasks must be done in order to be a proper businesswoman.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't give up.
  2. Get the professional advice and support you need.
  3. Believe in your product or service fully, and don't be afraid to tell others about it.
