FERTILITY & IVF Yoga & Meditation - FemFlow

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jane Dominey, Founder & CEO of FemFlow, located in Barcelona, Spain.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help women balance their hormones and get pregnant naturally and with IUI and IVF with a holistic course of yoga, meditation, self-fertility massage, and mindset mastery. My clients are women, normally from 20-45 years old, who are trying to conceive either as part of a couple or as solo Mums. They may be having difficulty due to hormone imbalance, stress, low ovarian reserve, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, or unexplained infertility. Harvard research shows that fertility yoga and meditation increase chances of conception x3 and more than doubles IVF success rates.

Tell us about yourself

I have been teaching Hatha vinyasa and pregnancy yoga for 12 years at my studio in Barcelona. Throughout this time, I was diagnosed with and overcame endometriosis and fibroids. I also served many of my clients through their fertility journey and pregnancy. I supported my clients through IVF, miscarriage, and thyroid imbalance which really impacted their lives. That is when I decided to specialize in hormone and fertility yoga as I could see the major impact this delicate balance has on all women physically and emotionally and how devastating coping with hormone imbalance and/or infertility is. I know I can help women overcome this and find the balance and the family that they so yearn for, and I know how much it means to them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting results! I've helped women who were alone, 39, thinking they'll never have a family, go through the whole decision process to become a single Mum, choose their clinic, donation and go through IUI, they listen to my meditation while receiving insemination, and I'm the first one they call when they get their test results. I've helped a client who had been through cancer, had both breasts removed, and was told her chances of having a family were almost zero; she had multiple failed IVF cycles. And when she was just about to give up, she found me, and after just 3 months of fertility yoga, she told me she was giving up the fertility class because she got pregnant naturally!!! She couldn't believe it!!!! It brings tears to my eyes, and I feel so blessed to share these incredibly intimate, deep, and life-changing journeys with my clients.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

For me, it's the admin and tech. I'm a people person, so when I had to bring everything online during covid and had to figure out how to attract clients to an online business instead of relying on flyers and google maps, there was a huge learning curve, and it was all very time consuming and didn't feel like I got immediate results or pleasure from it. In fact, I got quite overwhelmed with all the options and lost in the details. But, I have to say, I've learned a lot, and I am very grateful for these learnings. I feel I have really up-leveled.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The first is to pick something you are passionate about and that you absolutely love doing. Because your passion shows, and it will give you the energy to keep pushing in the early days.

The second is to plan, get an overview of your plan, schedule it, and stick to the plan. Follow a process that is tried and tested, and keep it all on one platform with one guide; otherwise, it's so easy to get lost.

The last is to hold yourself accountable. I know that working solo, it's easy to get distracted and to focus on things that are less important, and get lost in the details.. Having a coach, even an accountability buddy, keeps you on target. It calls you out when you don't put in the work, it pulls you up when you're feeling down, and it gives you someone to bounce ideas off of when you need a bit of support. And it's fun to share the journey.
