Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in advertising services but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Celeste Walsh, Director of Client Services at Flourish Media, located in Miami, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am the Director of Client Services at Flourish Media, a boutique provider of strategic marketing for lifestyle entrepreneurs with small teams.

Tell us about yourself

Hey there! My name is Celeste Walsh, and I am the Director of Client Services at Flourish Media. A native of West Virginia, I prepared myself to be a pioneer of my own career. After graduating from West Virginia University, I began my entrepreneurial journey interning with Flourish Media in 2018 before being hired as their Email Marketing Manager. Shortly after this transition, I was promoted to the Director of Client Services, an area I have found so much joy and purpose in. My job is my dream job! I have had the opportunity to enrich my skills in marketing, event coordination, and project management. From planning private celebrity events, implementing successful campaign strategies, and delegating projects to our international team. I aspire to connect with business owners to help them flourish in their industries. What motivates me is knowing that what I do impacts people's lives for the better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was when my team and I coordinated several private celebrity events. From masterclasses held on yachts and concert performances with household-named headliners to virtual events with Grammy Award Winning celebrities, these opportunities were sure-fire proof that we're more than a marketing company. We create and maintain the celebrity factor for clients in their industries without burnout.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Something that often becomes difficult as a business owner is the false imposter syndrome that can accompany success. Reminding myself, my team, and even my fellow female clients that we're more than deserving of our success has become a routine conversation. Although the common narrative is that you have to be a part of hustle culture in order to thrive as an entrepreneur, at Flourish Media, we believe that there is joy in entrepreneurship. We work with business owners one-on-one to help align their goals with actionable steps - kicking impostor syndrome to the curb.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Curate A Team You Can Rely On - It takes a village to raise a child
the same goes for growing a business.
  2. Dot The i's and Cross The t's - Take it step by step, do not rush to the end of the goal before you ensure each task has been fulfilled, and create a procedure you can follow.
  3. Collaboration Over Competition - Connect with other business owners to provide and cultivate extra support, events, or other helpful resources for your community.
