What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a media company that seeks to empower families with money knowledge. We have a free newsletter targeting parents where we discuss the latest financial news, information, and topics that apply to families everywhere.
Tell us about yourself
I got started working on the business with my wife after the birth of our daughters. Looking around, we realized there was a lack of financial literacy everywhere because we are not taught much about it in the current educational system. We decided to start this newsletter as a way to help families with the financial decisions they face day to day.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Getting started, to be honest. We had a lot of hesitation just putting something out there and getting feedback. Now that we have started, we are seemingly learning something new every day and really enjoying being helpful to a lot of families out there.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
I think one of the hardest things is realizing that you are not going to climb the full mountain on day one and not comparing yourself to other people. Each day just try to tell yourself to make progress. Keeping your mind from wandering and getting too negative, I have found, is hard.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Just start. You may not think you are ready, but just getting something out there will allow you to get feedback and adapt.
- Realize that just moving the ball forward a little each day is a win. Rome wasn't built in a day.
- Don't be afraid to pivot and adapt. You will likely change based on customer feedback, but you need to be able to see it and do it.
