What's your business, and who are your customers?
An annual writing conference for writers at all levels, whether they are writing for themselves, their friends and families, or for publication.
Tell us about yourself
Since I was a child, I knew I wanted to write. I am a teacher (I teach writing at the state university), a published writer, and a life-long learner. I love doing all these things and being able to share what I learn with others.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment is when I see the "ah-ha" moment in others as a result of something I've taught or shared that makes a difference to them, or I've inspired them, or I've helped them move closer to their dreams and goals.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Having to do the less pleasant tasks, such as promotion, bookkeeping, and paying bills. I love being a solopreneur, but there are times it would be nice to be able to just do what I love - writing and teaching.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Study the market.
- Have enough money to survive the start-up.
- Don't try to be everywhere and do everything - focus.
